Darkfield

Darkfield can be thought of as a contemporary beastiary: a description of a fantasy world, including species, geography, and environment.

The beasts in my beastiary are instruments, particular to their worlds/geography and tales. Placed on the map corresponding to the part of the mind geography they deal with, they mediate between us and this non-substantial world.
The names of the instruments (derived from phrases in scientific writings) suggest their function, and the function is reflected in the form.
